I’ve always been facinated with murder mysteries, even as a child, and I’ve always loved stories along the vein of “And Then There Were None” by Agatha Christie. I’ve also been drawn to stories based in a “small town with a dark past” sort of vibe to them. I’ve based Drowned Harbor, ME in this same world.
I neglected to realize the amount of work involved in a project such as this. Each logo in itself took hours upon hours to perfect, and even then some were never completed 100%. The badges alone took weeks to get where I wanted them. I did try to incorporate inspiration from various eras in design, and illustrate how some of the stores etc. have been in the town for different periods of time, and how that would reflect on their branding and image.
There will be more added to this on a regular basis including a full map and possible supporting animations and backstory.
The collection is available as a free desktop wallpack (2560×1600, also usable for mobile) and you can grab the wallpack via a Facebook post or Tweet here:
Make sure to participate in this weeks contest over at RunYourJewels. This week it’s sponsored by my band, Dead Astronauts! Enter your design to win some swag including a 16×24 print, stickers, postcards & mp3s!
Some of you have been participating in my Dead Astronauts Project over the last month or so, but before I start releasing any of that, or even sharing the details with the public. I wanted to share a free wallpaper and mp3 with you!
First the wallpaper is a promo piece and a version of our single cover of our upcoming release August 28th on Subtone Records. The single will be called “Favorite Lover” and features remix by Moussa Clarke & Sums, Karl Montenegro, It Takes Two To Tango and Tyke! You can download the full size 2560×1600 wallpaper here. Typo by Filip Komorowski and Jthree Concepts, rest of the design is Jthree Concepts.
Also, as promo we’ve made the Tyke! remix available for free download below:
Teodoru Badiu and I have been trying to work together for a few months now, and apparently within the last week or so, was just the right time. We reviewed a few designs to render in 3D, designs that would show off my style but also give Teodoru enough artistic freedom to add his own style to the piece.
“Your Disco is Dead” seemed to be the perfect piece for that.
We are both very happy with the outcome, and I loved how Teo brought his own style to the piece.
Hopefully this is a precursor to more projects with Teo.
This was a very exciting project for me . Scott from ShinBone Creative and I started chatting awhile back about working on a toy project together. We mulled over a few ideas, and decided that “Kyle” my bomb mascot would be a good option. Kyle has been a staple in my branding for the last few years, and we figured it would be one of the most recognizable of my characters.
It’s no secret that I have been wanting to have some of my characters rendered in 3D, and the chance to potentially release this guy as a toy one day got me very very excited to say the least.
